March Madness Entertaining [Recipe] + 10% Off Cookbooks

Each year, my husband takes off the first two days of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. He stays at home, sets up a handful of TV’s in our living room, and invites his friends over to watch EVERY SINGLE GAME.
To satisfy the boys’ burly, game-watching appetites, I turned to the March Madness menu in my new Bluegrass Gatherings cookbook. I decided to make Tip Off Poppers. They were super easy to make AND they were a hit! (My husband’s friend said they are his new favorite food, seriously!)

Try them yourself:
20 jalapeños, sliced in the middle. Use a spoon to scrape the seeds out.
10 oz softened cream cheese
1/2 BBQ sauce
1 lb cooked, crumbled bacon
Preheat the oven to 350. Grease a baking sheet. Top the jalapeños with cream cheese. Heat in the oven for 16 minutes. Take out of the oven and equally distribute the BBQ sauce and bacon. Put back in the oven for 7 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
I also made the Buffalo and Blue Cheese Meatballs, also from the March Madness menu. I mixed the ingredients and rolled the mixture into “balls” and gave my husband heating directions before heading to work on Thursday. That afternoon my husband called, telling me how good the meatballs were. The key word here is were. By the time I got home, the meatballs were a thing of the past. Luckily, I got a “before” picture.

Today the Junior League of Louisville’s highly anticipated 4th cookbook has launched!   After over 3 years of planning, development, testing, and editing,  we are proud to present our newest cookbook, Bluegrass Gatherings: Entertaining Through Kentucky’s Seasons.

Bluegrass Gatherings is a seasonal, menu-based cookbook that features 20 full menus— from appetizers to drinks—that include recipes utilizing fresh, local ingredients. It includes recipes from celebrated local chefs and restaurants, a wine pairing guide, entertaining tips, cooking tips, and interesting tidbits on how Louisville events and traditions tie-in to select menus.

Sneak Peek: Bluegrass Gatherings Training & Tasting

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who came out to join us  for the Bluegrass Gatherings Training & Tasting Monday, Feb 25th. What a great turnout!

The Bluegrass Gatherings training provided a wonderful opportunity to learn all about the new cookbook, how to sell cookbooks, as well as sample yummy recipes & drinks from the Bluegrass Gatherings’ March Madness menu.  JLL members that attended were also provided the opportunity to buy or pick up their copies of Bluegrass Gatherings.

Thank you to our special guest and JLL sustainer, Lisa Nash for sharing with us about our past cookbooks; and ways to ” fall in love with the cookbook”.  By finding those favorite go to recipes that we love sharing with friend and family, we are able to talk about the cookbook. This can easily be the best way to sell the cookbook.

Of course Bluegrass Gatherings makes a great gift for newlyweds, a baby shower, or house warming gift. LaCinda Glover and Susan Hovekamp provided wonderful ideas on how to package cookbooks as gift.

Here are a few events coming up that will showcase our new cookbook:
